OVERHANGING TUNNELS

Tensiter open overhanging tunnels offer a great panoramic effect thanks to the total absence of pillars towards the valley.

The overhanging width can extend up to 11 metres, measured from the facade of the internal vertical wall to the extremity of the structure.

They are formed by a series of specific precast reinforced concrete articulated elements, which, at the same time, cover the tunnel and form a side wall on the mountain side.

Elements are ready to be connected to appropriate anchoring tie-rods which guarantee their stability.

The main uses are:

• Rock and avalanche protection

• Road widening in very steep slopes

• Execution of roads with overlying roadways

 

The particular conception of our articulaterd precast elements allows transportation and assembly even in areas with limited space, especially in the case of mountain roads.

The construction process can be used also for curved tracks, using specific precast elements with trapezoidal shape.

​

The overhanging structure for the use of rockfall protection is designed to bear both the exceptional load of major soil accumulation due to landslide, as well as the collision due to boulder fall, even from great heights.
